I'm a lonely guy who turned out to be a popcorn fanatic! All this talk about how unhealthy microwave popcorn was starting to scare me, and cinema/machine style popcorn was ALWAYS the tastiest to me, so I experimented and shopped and found this MaxiMatic popper! I know it's not perfect but for the price I'm happy! It would be wise to purchase Great Northern 2.5 ounce bags of popcorn to use with this model of machine. I find there will be more corn if you heat the oil and let it sizzle a bit before adding the seeds. It won't pop all of the seeds, but it will pop a little more than the equivalent of a standard microwave popcorn bag. Another big plus is that this machine comes with a large removable tray that catches the popcorn. Cleaning isn't as bad as other reviewers have described, just boil some water with Dawn soap in a metal container and you're good to go, it's not that difficult. To clean the plexiglass and plastic parts, I just wipe them with the windshield every now and then and that's enough. I love this lil popper! This is enough to satisfy my popcorn needs! *Update* My popper is still working after 1.5 years! However, over time oil will remain in the metal container which also prevents the metal arm from rotating the kernels and once the container is filled with popcorn it will bind and stop rotating. I discovered the secret. Spritz on some non-stick cooking spray in the container before adding the vegetable oil and it will make a world of difference! I've gotten way more popcorn out of my popcorn bags, at least 30% more since I started using nonstick spray! It also slowly removes old oil buildup!
