paint or something on the product had a terrible chemical smell when we first opened it indoors. We left it indoors overnight and it still smelled strongly in the morning. Since then we've kept it outside and in the garage and haven't noticed since. After all, it's designed for the road. My daughter chose it for her 2nd birthday and she is obsessed. Partly because she's obsessed with the color blue, but also because she thinks the octopus is cool. We're happy if that's the case.
