I have purchased several used Shure mics and needed stands for them. I used to take tripod adapters for granted and never paid attention to their details. When I went shopping I was surprised at how much decent ones cost. These A25D adapters sit right next to other big brands in terms of value, but unlike some others, they seem built to last. After purchasing and using them I was very impressed with how well they fit and hold an SM57 or SM58. They appear to be made out of thicker, more durable plastic than the competition and have solid brass threaded inserts for the stand attachment point. I will be very surprised if any of them ever break, loosen or tear the threads. For the unwary or inexperienced user, these adapters are good insurance. Please note that the A25D fits the 57 and 58 microphones, which are cone-shaped but around 25mm in diameter. For the SM81 you should look for adapters that are around 20mm in diameter (K&M has a great option).
