My wife doesn't eat hot dogs. Well, just today when she got her first toy dog. Today she was happy about it, and then she ate the leftovers of cold children's dishes. In 10 minutes I got Master Hot Dog Chef status. I don't usually get to touch the grill, but this day will go down in history as the day I got some of my manhood back. Next step: pee on the toilet seat! I've seen reviews that the blades aren't sharp or that it doesn't work as advertised. Mine was sharp enough to easily slice through hot dogs as long as I use the rocking motion and the meat is cold. Well, I say cold meat because everyone else does it, but honestly I've never tried it with warm meat. I'm not sure if I want that. I've used it on Ballpark, Jewish National, and Jewish National Jumbo dogs with no problems. Obviously SLOTDOG is not the only way to achieve this. I had never heard of slicing hot dogs, so I first did it by hand with a knife. I was amazed at the difference in taste and texture. It took about 5 minutes to accurately score 4 hot dogs by hand and about a minute with a SLOTDOG. For me it's worth the 4 minutes of time and labor savings. But if you haven't already, stab some hot dogs with a knife and see for yourself if the purchase is justified. In terms of durability, you could probably drive a car over this thing. It's built like a tank. You will most likely never have to worry about pressing too hard and breaking it. Cleaning is as easy as advertised - just throw it in the dishwasher. I tried brushing it once but can't say it was as effective as a dishwasher. Take my word for it and just click the 'Easy' button. I have introduced SLOTDOG to several friends and none of them have been disappointed.
