I bought one of these 3rd edition units for my parents who were going on a trip. Dad is hard of hearing and good with computers, so I wanted something easy to use with good volume. It worked like a charm and they really like it. Dad can hear him well while driving, so I can calm down a bit when they're driving. They convinced me to buy the same. As I do astronomical research I had some special needs and needed a GPS that would allow me to enter latitude and longitude, intersections and two waypoints (one for a point on a paved road as a turn and coordinates along an unnamed road). dirt road as destination). The tom tom is the most affordable device I have found and it meets all my needs. It has many more features than some devices that cost twice as much. It finds satellites very well and I haven't had to lose track of them on the go. This usually also works inside buildings. The TomTom Home software is handy for updates, downloading voices and more, but creating updated maps is a bit of a hassle. I really want the software to connect to google maps or other images so I don't have to mark every little crease on the touchscreen. It's really a little quibble. There are many new builds in my area and I've made some map updates to keep up with the latest changes. Overall, this is a fantastic feature-packed little unit. I highly recommend it!
