I almost bought it after reading some reviews. I have to say if Val had sent me a pair of scissors that looked used I would have been pissed too. Luckily there weren't any. My previous hair clipper was also made by Wahl but it was the cordless version and the battery lasted about 3 years before almost losing its ability to hold a charge for more than about 2 minutes, TOPS. My previous clippers battery purred for about 5 seconds before I noticed a decrease in battery life. They're only about $17 so I figured I'd gotten more than my money's worth in 3 years so I wasn't hardened at all. These are my first wireless headphones. I prefer to be able to walk away from an outlet when needed, but the price and performance won me over. After using them I'm very glad I have them. First, these clippers have a certain weight. I would say they weigh the least, twice as much as my previous pair (if not more). The motor is clearly a lot more powerful and you can tell the moment you turn it on. The adjustable scissors at the top are also pleasant to the touch. My last pair didn't have them, but my last pair did and I skipped that option. I'm glad to have it back. The case is all plastic, but I've found that I prefer the material case to the rechargeable cases I've had before. I'm glad I resisted, I think I'll carry everything over to the previous one. It's not quite as protective of the clippers, but I never take them on a trip, so I don't think I'll worry too much. The attachments are good and they RELIABLY attach to the head of the machine, and I mean tight. What I really liked about the rechargeable pair was that each clipper head was a different color which made it easy to find them in the case. After owning them and using them for about a month, I could find every attachment I used regularly without even thinking about it. When everything is completely black, things get a little more difficult. However, this is by no means a violation of the terms of the contract. use, but it also has a downside. Hair tends to stick to this material much more than it does to the rest of the body. This made it difficult to clean the hair. Again, this isn't a critical factor, but I thought it was worth mentioning. I cannot stress enough how powerful this motor is compared to my previous Wahl cordless clippers. The noise it makes and the way it cuts lets you know you probably don't have to worry about them "hooking" and tugging at your hair like cordless ones would. And they would do even more as the battery started to seriously degrade. With constant power from the cable, the motor can produce more than enough cutting power to virtually eliminate this problem. Again VERY comfortable. Thick hair. I cannot speak for those who are receiving what they consider a used product as mine was untouched when it arrived and therefore my experience has only been positive. I highly recommend it.
