Bought this 6 cup jug and threw away my Brita 10 cup jug. The 10th cup was about 8 years old and the filtered water was starting to smell bad. We change the filters every month so we can conclude that the old pot is leaking something that we shouldn't be drinking. I have no idea if the 10 cups were BPA free. Cleaning with vinegar, baking soda, and chlorine bleach didn't help. Decided to use a 6 smaller cup so full water changes are more frequent and easier. Filtered water no longer smells like old socks. Also, we love that a 6-cup mug pours much faster than a 10-cup mug. A real bonus.
