Revainrating 3 out of 5

The fingerprint function does not work. Not worth $50

This USB 3.0 flash drive has a secure partition that is believed to be accessible using fingerprint or password technology. The password works fine. I used a similar drive from another company and had no issues setting it up or using a fingerprint to access the protected portion of the drive. When you plug in this USB drive, press "CD Drive" (it's a confusing name) to access the user guide and fingerprint verification app. You first set up a password and then follow the instructions to enter your fingerprint in the admin profile. You can add up to six people (one administrator and five users). To access the protected part of the drive, you don't just have to put your fingerprint on the control panel. Instead, you have to tap on the fingerprint app. After entering the fingerprint, I unplugged and plugged the USB drive back in to see if it worked. I tried to enter my fingerprint about 15 times and failed every time. After using the password, I tried entering a new fingerprint for that profile using another finger. It failed every time when tested. Unfortunately, as a public drive, you can use a maximum of 57.1 GB of free space (at least 0.58 GB is left in the protected area. The remaining gigabytes are used for software and the like). Since the fingerprint technology doesn't work, I would prefer to remove this feature to have more storage space. (public or secure) and not the CD drive, or it will tell you that there is no space. File transfers are fast enough, although you'll obviously need to reformat the drive if you want to transfer individual files that are several gigabytes in size.

Pros
  • Easy-to-read control panel
Cons
  • Upgradeable
