Review on 🧳 166 Travel by John N Hansen by Jake Hillyer

I've been playing mahjong for a few months and I'm addicted to it. I ordered this set to take with me on a trip and as the package weight is listed as 2.4 pounds it is lighter than my good set. Despite reading other reviews I was still surprised that it arrived in a full size game box. The box is made of lightweight cardboard and must be large enough to fit four plastic racks, each 14 inches long. The tiles are larger than I expected, 1 x 1-1/2 inches each, but thin. Pictures on it There are burrs on the edges of some of the tiles which I hope I can remove with a dremel but haven't tried it yet. I weighed the entire set of tiles (not counting the four empty spares) and they registered 23.2 ounces. Travel is that I won't be terribly upset if my luggage gets lost with this set in it. This can be a good, inexpensive However, beginners should be aware that every player still needs a card with winning combinations on it. These cards are issued each year by the National Mahjong League and come out around April 1st. They are copyrighted and cost about $7 each. I know layers bring their own maps, but I've ordered spares to borrow when playing with other newbies. Also, the rulebooks that come with each of these sets are useless. Get someone to teach you the game, and then it's still worth getting at least one book that covers all the rules your teacher forgot to mention and helps you know what you're looking at as a beginner should concentrate. I haven't gotten very far in my books yet, so I'll cover them separately later.
