I have bamboo and acacia wood cutting boards and have used them on both and it looks like it works well, certainly easy enough to make. I cut open an old t-shirt to apply the oil and let it soak overnight. I've never used it on stainless steel appliances and have never heard of using mineral oil on it, but my fridge looks terrible so I might give it a try. I'll let you know here when I do. That means I probably won't be doing this for 6 months, but we'll see if I get into a cleaning craze now that spring is on the way.
