Review on Enhance Your PC Gaming Setup with Raidmax LD-601 Addressable RGB LED Light Strip - Magnetic & 3M Tape - Single w/Remote by Jamie Bolen

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Strong build quality.

Bought 2 of these (LD-602) about a year ago. I've learned a lot since then. The build quality is excellent. It can be controlled with the Raidmax controller (only included with the purchase of LD-602), which can control the brightness, over 300 modes and change the backlight color to solid. I've seen Raidmax controllers online for under $10 if you're interested. If they look like a controller, they work. They are powered by CR2025 batteries, but will also work with CR2032 batteries. Many reviews say that the LEDs did not work. It could be because they don't know the difference between 12V and 5V, or because they tried to connect it to the 5V RGB connector in reverse. My explanation: These LEDs are 5V addressed, but since they have their own PCB (300+ modes) the 4-pin/3-pin connector is used to connect to other 5V devices. Therefore, these LEDs are only useful for desktops/PCs without an onboard addressable 5V RGB connector. 4-pin/3-pin connectors can be connected to other RGB 5V products (sync confirmed with): Raidmax NV -R120FBRaidmax NV-R120TPRaidmax NV -R120FBR3 (3 blocks, controller and 5V hub) connect them, make sure you connect them to only one connection. If you use 4-pin, use only 4-pin. If you are using a 3-pin connector, use only a 3-pin connector. *Arrows need to touch other arrows (if powered by a Molex and not a plug), at that point I'd buy a controller. A NOTICE. If you plan to daisy chain fans to both the NV-R120FB and LD-602 and connect them to the RGB 5V header, it won't work for ASUS Aura Sync, let alone other brands. It has a strong magnetic backing and 3M double-sided tape. I attached it to my case and didn't even have to remove the 3M tape and the magnetic backing was able to hold the LEDs upside down. Cons: - If you want to connect to the motherboard, make sure it's an RGB 5V connector. I did this and the lights came on, all LEDs came on, but the syncing in Aura Sync failed. They displayed random colors and didn't cooperate at all and didn't change color every time I tried to switch colors in Aura Sync. They may or may not work with other 5. rgb headers. I couldn't try Mystic Light or Gigabyte RGB Fusion 5V as I don't have those motherboards. However, LEDs are not compatible with aura timing. TIP: DO NOT connect it to 12V as this will burn out the LEDs. * - Even if you use the Molex connection to power it up, you can't control the colors (controller not included). in a Paket). This means that it simply switches modes and cycles through them. This is not a problem, just an inconvenience. This is easily fixed by purchasing a controller. The only mode I like is the first one, the rainbow cycle. If you bought 2 packs and a controller and want to set it to rainbow cycle just press AUTO M- then M+.-* 4 pin connector is literally 4 pin or 3 pin. I used both 3 pin across the chain and 4 pin across the chain to connect it to the NV-R120FB. They both work. Just be consistent and don't use 3-pin and 4-pin. If the light blinks, it's usually a bad connection. **I connected it to 12V on purpose as 5V didn't show the colors properly. It roasted them but I have pictures of the board. I would upload photos of the lights but they don't look like real life. Final Thoughts Overall this is a good buy if you don't have an addressable 5V RGB header. You'll need to power the LEDs from a Molex. If you need addressable 120mm RGB fans that sync with the light, I recommend the NV-R120FB, NV-R120FBR3, or NV-R120TP PWM fans, which have been confirmed to sync. a bit cloudy/foggy (see photo). Not sponsored, just wanted to share my experience with you. FIXED 3/5
