I used these cheap IKEA towels which I kinda liked because they have a certain texture but the seams come undone almost immediately and they smell fast because they dry very slowly. And I HATE those super plush bath towels that look like they're coated in fabric softener or hair conditioner and just seem to move water around your body instead of drying it out. This is an amazing towel. Absorbent, nice, big and offers enough friction without feeling rough or scratchy. And the boy is effectively drying you out! It also washes and dries well. It's expensive, of course, but I can see that it will last for many years. I just wish they were another dark gray color.
