I received this because I needed an ethernet connection at my average 15MBP, but I also need to use both Thunderbolt display ports for monitors so I can't use my Thunderbolt ethernet adapter. I wanted a USB 3.0 full gigabit network adapter that I can use and that works great. I get exactly the same file transfer speeds on my gigabit network as I get on my desktop, so it absolutely delivers the speed I expected. The USB connector is larger than usual, but it doesn't interfere with or block the adjacent Lightning connector.
