Revainrating 5 out of 5

Small but nice!

This is my first boar bristle brush. Bought 1438 because I was a facial cleanser. I love the brush! Beautiful, nostalgic look. The brush broke in quickly (half a dozen shaves). However, please note: This is a small brush. In my limited experience, this means you have to work a little harder/longer to create the desired amount of foam. I then bought a Semogue 2000 and preferred this knot size, density and grip. Now I've switched to lathering in a bowl, since a larger brush is more suitable. Both do their jobs well, but I find the 2000s to be much faster (which is to be expected with a large brush). Soft bristles on both hands. If you're used to bigger knots, bigger handles, or have big hands yourself, I'd recommend the 2000 or the Semogue Owners Club instead of the 1438. But I won't get rid of my 1438 anytime soon! It's well managed, comfortable, and I sometimes use it for fun; serves as my assistant when I break a new brush.
