When the latch is removed there is a small hook that goes under the sheet metal of the seat. You don't have to try to bend it to get the new bracket to fit underneath! Simply place the new bracket under the old latch, line up the screw holes and screw each top and bottom screw in half, then alternately turn each screw a few turns. It slightly flattens the prongs of the tongue. I used an electric drill and it went straight!
