I purchased these for a winter trip in Yellowstone National Park. I wear an 8-1/2 shoe and ordered a size 9 knowing I would be wearing extra heavy and/or multiple layers of socks. I didn’t widen the laces the first time I wore them and there was a small tear in the seam at the back of the calf. Once I realized what happened, I loosened the laces and no further tears. They did a great job in the snow, no sliding and my feet kept fairly warm given the extreme cold.
