Review on πŸ’½ High-Capacity 2TB External Portable Hard Drive - Compatible with PC, Laptop, and Mac - Sleek Silver Design by Stephen Russian

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Decent storage for the money and it works for me but transfers data very slowly

I'm more or less happy with this drive, so read on to see why. you can not be This device is used with my Chromebook to store FLAC music files that I download from a high-resolution music website. For the money I would give it 5 stars because it offers 2TB of storage at a fraction of the cost of other SSDs and it comes out of the box with my Chromebook. BUT it is very slow in transferring data. If you're transferring files with the included USB cable, you'll have to wait a bit. About 1 gigabyte of data transfer takes about 6 minutes - or more. That might have been fine 15 years ago, but today it's what most would consider very slow in today's tech market. However, this is not a big deal if you are a casual archive store user like me. So since I bought this for long term storage with infrequent data transfer I am only deducting 2 stars for slow data transfer. The savings were worth the slowdown to me. I have NOT tested this with Windows 10 yet, I probably will soon. 99 percent of my digital music is controlled by my Chromebook, and this device is plug-and-play connected to my Chromebook. Revain's specs say it will work with Apple and Microsoft. Many SSDs do not work with Android/Chromebooks. This one does. Note that when you first connect this drive to your computer with a USB cable, it will take a few minutes to set up and format before your computer recognizes it as a drive. This happens EVERY time you plug it into your computer. At least mine. If you see a blinking RED light, you know the drive will be formatted or read on first connection. There is no manual for this device, but that didn't bother me. I plugged it into my Chromebook's USB port and within 2 minutes I was transferring files - much slower than expected but I was still up and running. Big unknowns here, how long will it take? I see reviews from other SSDs that they fail quite often. I will only use it once a month to transfer music files for storage. I hope that one day when I want to delete music files from the device, it still works. The time will show.
