I'm a mechanic by trade and I have a lot of scanners that I use regularly. This one is great for extracting codes, clearing codes etc etc. You can also check for ABS problems and instruct the brakes on certain cars to retract the calipers or open the bleed lines which is necessary when working on those specific cars . So it basically fits most devices in this price range. Just make sure it has the options you're looking for. If you just want a code reader, there are much cheaper solutions, but they don't do anything other than read and erase codes. This device does a lot more than that and makes my life much easier when troubleshooting a car. The live data from this reader will be invaluable when looking for a fuel problem or O2 sensor malfunction. also battery and generator testing as well as individual component testing in both directions. This is not for the casual mechanic, you will never use most of the functions unless you understand not only the automatic functions but also the scanner functions. Very good reader and tester does its job well and at a great price
