This bag has 4 compartments with 3 divided and matching holes to separate the yarn (in one compartment) from the work project. The hole is in a flexible plastic top and a metal ring around the hole. One of Metsl's rings broke trying to slide a foundation bin into one of my projects. And now I regret buying this bag a bit, because where did I actually need 3 finished projects? I believe this is good storage space - and it has all the compartments on the front for storing hooks. If I had to make a purchase again I wouldn't buy a model with holes to separate projects from yarn. What's happening, if you just want to do a project with you to meet your friends for a cup of coffee? Luckily my projects were just getting started so I could easily pull them out; I plan on using it just for yarn storage to keep half finished projects and hook supplies.
