I'm an avid RB/RB2 drummer and I care a lot about the quality of my gear. I was dying to play with the cymbal set so I bought this product and so far I am very satisfied! Let me list a few things that made a big impression on me, mostly small changes that add up to a much better product than the original drum kit: 1. Wireless -----> Actually I was very worried about it , with the calibration settings and the like. Wireless obviously makes it easier to move the device around and gets rid of the clutter of cords that used to be. Despite my misgivings, I turned on the unit and it played with flawless timing. Unexpected but very nice.2. Noise Canceling Pads -----> When I play, I play hard. As a real drummer, I don't just hit the pads, I play them. These pads are way better than the originals. For me personally it doesn't really matter as the music is usually great too, but I can see how nice it would be for someone else. 3. Base poles are arc shaped instead of round -----> One of the best little changes I can think of! I often move my rig to other rooms for storage or play and the pedals would always fall off and drag on the floor behind me. Thanks to the arched bars (which now look like an inverted U instead of a rounded O), the pedals are well balanced, making it easy to pick the rig up and move it around. Again unexpected but incredibly enjoyable.4. Cymbal Extension -----> I still need to get used to it, but I LOVE the cymbals. They make more noise when struck than pads (especially muted pads), but welcome to drums. A very unexpected feature is that after the song ends or before it begins, the cymbals are not clearly synonymous with their colored pads. In other words, if I play after the song is over, I get a floor tom on hitting the green pad and a crash on hitting the green cymbal. <3 <3 <3. The added realism of the cymbals makes the game much more exciting. The only issue I can think of is that adding extra cymbals can be a nuisance and I *want* to add one for travel (blue) such as Getting the sound of a cymbal is only a tragedy when you know what you're actually hitting it for. Overall 5/5 so far. I'll update this if I run into any issues in the future, but for now I'm blown away by the overall quality and amount of small but noticeable updates they've made. If you're thinking of upgrading, do it and don't look back.
