fit was correct but a little tight for my son. If your child is a bit thinner and taller than average, regular size should be fine, but my skinny boy got a little fat so he was tight in the middle, although he now wears 14/16 loosely in other clothes. However, it was quite long and the arms fitted well. I couldn't find the size because it was out of stock so I went with another brand otherwise I would have gotten the same jacket. It looks very nice and although it's thin my son said it's warm enough for fall weather.
