Review on 4014648 Lewis Clark Travel Sentry Travel Accessories for Luggage Locks by Carrie Anderson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Easy to read white on black, but small numbers and cables require additional manipulation

I am comparing 4 different TSA luggage locks with features that make them easy to read: Enroute luggage combination lock is easy to read Digits are white on black. Room size is smaller than Ideaworks and Lewis N Clark large dial locks, but larger than other Lewis N Clark locks. Shackle standard, 2 cm high, letter "U" made of solid metal. The overall lock size is the smallest in this comparison. The outer case looks like metal, but this lock is still lightweight compared to other locks. Lewis N Clark TSA Approved Combination Luggage Lock with Steel Cable (TSA40X2ONG). The numbers are white on a black background. The room size is the smallest in this comparison. The bracket is a 4 cm high flexible cable that is locked and unlocked by sliding. The outer casing looks like metal covered in rubber. Large Dial Cable Lock Lewis N Clark Travel Sentry (TSA46BLU). The numbers are black on silver. The room is almost the same size as the Ideaworks castle and significantly larger than the other two castles. The shackle is a 4cm high flexible cable that opens by pressing a button on the bottom of the lock. The outer case appears to be metal. This is the hardest of the castles in this comparison. (Jobar) Luggage lock Ideaworks Large Digit (JB7611) Digits black on silver. The room size is the largest in this rating. Shackle standard, 2 cm high, letter "U" made of solid metal. The outer case appears to be plastic rather than metal. This lock is lighter than all Lewis N Clark locks and is the same weight as the Enroute lock. My Pick: Enroute Castle is my favorite of the 4 reviewed here, mostly because I find it the easiest to read. The digits are white on black and I find them easier to read than black on silver and more significant than the slight differences in digit size. I also prefer the standard all-metal brace. It seems that all cable locks require additional locking/unlocking maneuvers. Of course, your opinion and priorities may differ. My favorite easy-to-read luggage lock was the large print Brookstone TSA combination lock. It was metal with relatively large white-on-black numerals and a strong shackle. But now I can't find it anywhere.

Pros
  • VERSATILE: This combination lock protects your suitcase and luggage and is TSA compliant. It's also perfect for sports locks, briefcases, laptop cases, purses, backpacks and more. Available in blue, orange, red and black
Cons
  • Lots of stuff
