I'm glad I ordered them as part of the 7 day wardrobe offer. My granddaughter goes to kindergarten and she needs uniform pants. She is of average height for a five year old child and of slim build. When these arrived she tried them on and although her legs were very slim, like thick leggings, her waist wasn't. The bottom material is soft and stretchy, but as the cut goes up it stretches and there's a ribbed waist with a wide elastic band inside. Around the waist of my GD, not a single stitch of my pants touched her skin. The only thing holding her back was holding on to part of the leggings. If your kid has a fat waist, they may fit you better.
