Review on Keep Time In Silence: 12 Inch HITO Wall Clock With Smart Nightlight And Brightness Adjustability by Joseph Campos

Revainrating 5 out of 5

2022-08-14. Arrived Yesterday, unboxed and brought into service today. Very nice indeed!

Better than expected, though it is true that modern battery operated electric clocks have improved hugely over the last years. Mainly because the drive mechanism keeps the hands in smooth motion rather than the old start-stop-restart pulse that lets momentum go to zero and restarting from zero is very energy costly. (Just look at your highway vs city mileage on your car. Highway: no stop-start. City: lots'a stop-start unless it is your habit to never stop when the signals say to do so. But then you only have to wait for the black-and-white to chastise you accordingly.) As the illumination which can be adjusted by the bright-dim wheel on the back, I'd say offhand it is about as close to perfect as one may have any right to expect. We are very pleased. But if the light receptor were placed further away from the middle of the clock, then the passage of the hands over and blocking the light receptor would be much quicker hence the resulting brightness pulse would be much quicker - perhaps nonexistent if the light receptor were densensitized to very brief shadowing. Plus the hands are thinner, hence cast a shadow for less time, away from the center. Next gen improvement, eh?

Pros
  • The clock is an excellent value for the price
Cons
  • The clock's design is too plain and doesn't add any interest to a room
