My old Shure M97xE was long overdue to replace the needle. It worked pretty well and went through maybe 3 or 4 pins. However. Shure stopped making needles for him. It's time to buy new ones. Really not wanting to spend too much, over $100 for one, I opted for this Ortofon Red and Grado. I have no idea why I chose this one, but now that I've played about 20 albums with it, this module sounds really great! I spent time installing and configuring the cartridge by watching a few videos on Youtube. It was really quite easy. I can tell a big difference between my old worn out Shure and this one. I know my ear has changed since that Deep Purple (and many others) performance in the early 70's, but it sounds great to me.
