Ahead of a big family gathering I was looking for disposable bowls (the paper/plastic alternative is a plus) that could stand up to the heat for serving stew or paprika chili in I've had several sad and muddy attempts at other brands to no avail. until now! I'm so impressed! The fact that they are made from palm leaves amazes me. They work so well. You are beautiful and fat. I wanted to test the bowl before attempting to serve anything hot in it. I pour hot water straight from the kurig into the bowl and let it sit for 10 minutes. He didn't burn my hand to hold and isolate the water. There were no leaks, the outside still felt solid and didn't lose shape. Inside where there was water it felt a little softer but didn't feel like it would give at all. They said it could be used in the microwave so I decided to give it a try. I put the same bowl in the microwave for 20 seconds. It still contained water and its shape remained immobile, but the inside of the shells bubbled (like when you heat a tortilla, see image). I still didn't seem affected, but I'm not sure I'd recommend microwaving too much or too long in them. Great bowls! I will order more.
