Well my 12 year old Samsung dryer finally gave me a new problem today. All controls seemed fine, but pressing the start button did nothing. Not even an error on the display. After removing the upper part of the block, a problem was discovered - the belt broke. It was the original belt, no idea how it lasted as long as it fell apart after taking it off. So, watching a youtube video, replacing the belt is quite a hassle (need to disassemble the whole front of the car), I ordered a belt and a new tensioner arm not knowing if the current one needs to be replaced. So 10 hours later. I had the item in my hands! Dismantling is usually easy. I've changed the heater a few times but not the belt. Removing the existing idler pulley was quite a hassle - I used a portable Phillips impact wrench (large) and it came straight out. I replaced it as it was worn out from the old belt. . The amount of lint inside and everywhere is amazing so vacuum well. Putting the belt back on the tensioner was an adventure. I've tried pulling the belt on the motor first, then on the pulley and vice versa. With the new belt it fits perfectly. I couldn't fit it, I thought the belt was too short. Finally, with the strap across the tank, I removed the front assembly holding the tank, removed the tank from the rear rollers, and then lowered the tank slightly to loosen the strap a bit. It is very easy to mount it on the engine and then press the tensioner assembly to adjust the belt properly. Then lifted the tank onto the rear ball rollers, then mounted the front with the rollers on it, lifted the tank into place with the front assembly and it spun smoothly as it should. I put everything back together, turned on the electricity and the stool, the dryer worked again. Please note that I had some cuts that could have been avoided had I lowered the bathtub and reassembled it as I ended up doing. So watch out for the sharp metal you have to put your hand through. Also, I have never pulled the dryer out of the wall, everything is ready from the front. Time will tell if the belt and idler pulley will do the trick.
