The original one I bought had a defect: the thread on the bottom had snapped and just wouldn't screw into the mount. I have ordered a replacement. Exactly the same problem. At this point I thought maybe it could be a problem on my end (although I put together a lot of complex elements so I doubted it!). Just to be sure, I asked a friend and also the contractor who worked for me. The second is also carved. The third is adorable. no Same problem. You'd think I'd already given up on this product, but it was perfect for where I needed it. second photo. Thought it might be a faulty batch of brushed nickel as the other (positive) reviews seem to have talked about a different finish. I look forward to finally hanging it on the wall.
