I bought this lock for a 4 day trip on my Suzuki Vstrom and it was perfect. The installation instructions for my combo were easy and I installed it in less than 2 minutes. My combo worked the first time / every time since. The lock and cable are coated to protect the bike, so now I just leave them on the bike even when I'm not using it. I used the lock in two ways on my trip. First the main lock was used on my helmet. But I also routed the coiled cord through the handles of my padded back bag to avoid the "grab and run" thing. I'd probably also have a place to zip the jacket if I pulled the cord all the way out, but I've never tried that so I'm not sure. As for the concerns of other reviewers, I rode in the rain all day and the lock and mechanism combination worked just as smoothly as before my ride. Concerned about the ability of thieves to pick the lock, let me put it this way: This is a light/medium lock. Don't lock up your wife's diamond ring with this. A thief with a couple of large pry bars and a medium sized wire cutter can pick this lock/cable. However, stronger locks are not suitable for quick locking/unlocking on the motorcycle. This stops the "opportunity thief" and also increases the time even more decisively. The bottom line is that this lock does exactly what it says on the tin at a very reasonable price, with the added benefit of not having to carry another key around.
