The adult hole is very small. Too small. When I sit on it I feel like I'm going to miss a hole and get mud all over the seat and me. The seat itself is oddly small, barely covering my toilet, and part of the porcelain rim sticks out from behind the seat. I have no idea how a person can raise the seat without touching the bowl and pulling on the inside edge of the seat. Because the seat is small, the lid is small. When I lift the lid, it falls onto the toilet just above the top of my water tank. If I recline all the way, the seat cap pushes under the gas cap, scratching the seat cap, and then pops out again when I move, causing the gas cap to smack back onto the toilet with a loud bang. This hasn't been a problem with any other seat I've ever used. TMI alert! Couldn't poop for two days. I couldn't get comfortable in the seat to relax and move into a rigid, upright position. I also felt like I had to lean back a bit to get a feel for the tiny hole! This, of course, caused the seat cover to lift the water tank cap on the toilet, which made me want to sit down. When the lid was put back on, everything shrank so I couldn't walk. We only have one toilet in the house and our old Bemis/Next Step church seat cracked so we couldn't put it back together. the seat is torn (twice!), so I can't recommend this seat either. This seat looks good and the thick plastic feels solid. I like that it's plastic and the slow close still works. Seems like the good times end here. Installation was a nightmare and in the three days we had it we had to reinstall it twice because it was sliding all over the place. There is only light. I think it looks pretty cool (designed by the guy who got us the lights under the car?), but it's too dim to be useful and seems to be taking up valuable opening space. I think someone at Delta should read some reviews and have a serious conversation with their designers. So, is this better than a cracked bemis literally biting my ass? hard call If I tried this chair in someone's home or showroom, I wouldn't buy it. I feel trapped in this seat. Can you ethically return a used toilet seat? Is there a functional alternative!? We looked at many places to choose this. It's scary how hard it is to face the shopping glove again in a toddler gym chair. The emotional impact of this chair is almost as uncomfortable as actually using it.
