I'm an average size for a 150lb 5'10' man and most robes swallow me up so I considered using a womans size. After reading almost all of these reviews it was still somewhat confusing on which to order. With everything suggesting the large I went with that. My shoulder to my fingertips is 33" and I couldn't even see my hand. With a 32" waist,the belt was almost long enough to wrap around twice. Returning for the sm/med, it was a perfect fit. So.as a small 5'10' man I would suggest the smaller of the two. Light weight but works for all season and super super soft. If you think the wife's soft, better check this out. Lol. I decided against the black and went with the blue since we have two pets and plenty of fur.
