I was having signal drops and sporadic performance on my wifi and one day Xfinity came in to make a few changes that helped a little but the problem persisted. (I live in an old apartment building, so I'm pretty sure cables date from the earliest days of the internet). I also found that rebooting can be an anti-malware measure. So I started periodically rebooting the router and unplugging it from the network, which was easy but not easy as a few things got in the way. When I accidentally knocked over the TV, I knew I needed something better. A friend told me about a smart cable that can be plugged in between a router and an outlet to schedule an automatic reboot from the app. I bought one and it works like a charm. Assembly instructions are placed on a business card. FYI: Only the Apple App Store is mentioned, but it is also available on Google Play for Android users. The name of the application isn't explicitly stated - it's ConnectSense. The instructions say to scan a QR code, but looking at the top and bottom of the hockey puck and the plug ends of the rebooter itself, and even the box with the product, I didn't see this. So I tried the manual option which couldn't find my wifi network but I think the problem was I lost internet during the process ahhh! In the meantime, while fumbling around, I found a QR code, again for your information: smaller than a postage stamp and glued to the side wall of the center pane. So I tried that, but my network was still not found. Having little patience for tech support calls, I decided to try again the next morning, which I did with the QR code, and it worked like a charm. (They do clearly state the support number in the instructions, though, which is handy.) The app lets you schedule the day and time to restart, and it also has manual control. With the app I also discovered other ConnectSense products that you can control from the app so I can take a look. I want to be able to schedule dates other than day and time. But I only use the manual override on my phone, so I'm happy with Internet Rebooter and highly recommend it, especially if turning off your router is difficult or you just prefer a 'smart' solution controlled via an app can.
