I use these two devices in different ways. I set one to motion detection and it automatically turns off when there is sunlight in the bathroom. It sits in our bathroom and is only turned on at night by the movement of someone getting up. It was rated in low light but I would rate it higher. It's a lot brighter than the night light that was there. It goes out before I'm done in the bathroom but illuminates the path I take back to bed. Very happy with both. The other is in a very dark hallway so I set it up so that it stays on all the time and doesn't go off unless the hallway light comes on, but most of the time it stays on. There is enough light not to trip over a toy or other item on the floor in a dark hallway. Movement does not affect the lighting in the hall. It only goes out when you turn on the ceiling light in the hallway. Both work fine. I was happy to set them up differently. I've had them for about 3 months now.
