This is the second "Boston Gear" sprocket I've recently purchased. Gear geometry is important, of course, and Boston gears make beautifully designed gears that always mesh well and run smoothly. I have no complaints about the design and functionality of the product itself. Unfortunately, both gears were badly deburred. They tend to be quite expensive and it's reasonable to expect them to be well made. I have this gear on sale (What! Do they have a gear sale? Yes, obviously they do.) so I saved a half hour of deburring. Paying over $100 (full price) and then having the burrs removed would have been far more annoying. This gearbox fits into one of Elmer's "Geared Steam Engines" and as far as I know there really isn't a better choice for it. If you build one of these engines, build everything else before you buy gear and it will encourage you to pay a hefty selling price for one of them. (spur gear.: See what I did there?)
