I bought this to replace an old molded robot I've had for years. It was not USB 3.0 and was in poor condition. The robot USB hub was a gift and I'd rather have one that looks like it. easier and more professional. However, this little robot has served me well over the years. My eyes constantly burned when connected to the laptop, I had to remove the LEDs because it was so bright. Now it's old and worn out, it's time for a replacement! Pros: - Inexpensive. I spent less than $12 including taxes. Works great. There are no functional problems. I will update this later to include durability information. Hope it lasts long. I was concerned that the LEDs would be very bright and I would have to remove them, but luckily they are a bit dim. The brightness is enough to see which ports are enabled. It doesn't require any setup, which is to be expected since it only offers more USB 3.0 ports. Can be used to charge devices when connected to a power source or computer. Laptop/Smart TV with power pull function. So if you've searched Revain and seen some USB hubs claiming that they can't be used to charge devices (which sounds absurd when it's connected to a computer, but whatever), rest assured will be without problems. Cons: - The cable is very short, maybe 6 inches, and you can't easily replace it. I suppose you can get some sort of extension. Definitely not a deal breaker, just not ideal. I personally think the length is fine, but wish it was a few inches longer. Cheap. The case is easily removed. I read about it in the reviews and thought maybe they just have a defective one, but as soon as the package arrived I checked if it was possible to remove the case. To say it was easy would be an understatement. Arrived promptly, not screwed, no staples and even glue. I imagine this can make changing cables SO MUCH easier since you have better access to the connection, but it could lead to potential disaster if you're not careful. I'm not going to throw it around like crazy so it should be ok, just keep that in mind. It is not held together in any form, shape or form. The switches seem superfluous. My previous hub didn't have any switches and that was fine. I've had this for years, never had a problem other than glowing LED eyes. Maybe a USB 3.0 hub is needed? Or for people who need to toggle ports on and off for some reason? But for me it's completely pointless. However, I disabled 2:1, which has a steam controller dongle plugged in that I only use occasionally, and another port that I currently don't use at all. I like that it burns 2 LEDs less. The plastic is very shiny and I HATE it. Looks good in photos and out of the box, but there are smudges and fingerprints afterwards. I'm willing to ignore it because I won't touch it. In my experience, shiny plastic is harder to clean, so take my advice and wipe it down from time to time or it will end up looking dirty and harder to clean.
