So last year we bought this for just over $800 for my son's online school. All bells and whistles. Keyboard, pen and durable case. The i5 architecture you'll find on the surface is different from what you'll find on desktop models and was designed with power efficiency in mind. It's terrible for games. Period. I mean, there are games that are 15-20 years old that don't play well on either surface. My 3 year old Celeron desktop kills these units in the gaming department. However, this device really shines in other areas. It's a multitasking powerhouse. 20 tabs open, almost no slower. Launches almost every application I have installed almost immediately. You can really appreciate the first-class equipment. Where this device really stands out is in the tablet. Windows almost has a real touch screen. It's an unfortunate compromise between modern touchscreens and classic mouse input. With a little practice and reading, the touch interface is easy to master. Battery life is terrible on all three configurations. I'd say I get about 6 hours of battery life in the Zoom class on battery saver mode. If you're doing something strenuous, that time halves to about 3 hours. Luckily play 2 hours. Works great for game streaming services like Stadia and GeForce Now, but just leave it plugged into a power source.
