I bought a USB adapter with my hard earned money and this review contains my own thoughts on it. Bought in December 2019. First of all I would like to point out that I do not use this regularly. This is just for my old USB 3A external hard drives that can be plugged into USB-C when I'm running out of 1 USB-A port. According to the product info: Speed limited to USB 3.0 (5 Gb/s), so if your computer's home connection is 10 Gb/s, it will be limited to 5 Gb/s. This is generally normal for HDD-based SSDs and older USB3 Gen1 SSDs. Now that I said I tested this with an external USB3 Gen2 SSD and got Gen2 speeds (10Gb/s) with the Crystal label, I had no change to testing from file transfer. It can exceed expectations in this regard. I bought a USB power adapter that was advertised as 10Gb/s and it also reached 10Gb/s. (same price but plastic case). The quality of the material is very good. It's a metal body, and the USB-C connector is a single piece of metal without the seam common to lower quality connectors. Because the adapter is metal and a good size to grip, it might be too wide for tightly spaced USB-C ports if you need two side-by-side. I have a complaint. One of the connectors does not work with SSD. I've only tested an external one at the moment, but it delivers power. I'm using a clearly defective USB-C portable display to power it. Photos will be available soon.
