I had my daughter use this new Ninja NC501 CREAMi Deluxe 11-in-1 Ice Cream & Frozen Treat Maker for Ice Cream. She made the base and put in the freezer per instructions for 24 hours. We took it out this afternoon and she put both crushed oreos and chunks of premade cookie dough that we tried to freeze a few hours before. There aren't any real instructions with how to use the unit, but more on recipes. It appears for any of the flavors, you need to start with the vanilla base. The cookie dough and oreos were disbursed into the ice cream so they weren't chunks, just smooth and creamy. You can refreeze what you don't use and then re-do the process again with new toppings inserted. We haven't tried the smoothies or other items yet. I figure I can just use my regular blender for those. The cleanup is easy, just wash the container and top piece. Be sure to not use any frozen ice/fruits, etc. or you can damage the unit. I'm excited to use this to make an ice cream cake for my son's birthday. My husband thinks it's a lot of work when you can just buy the ice cream, but it was fun to try.
