Easy to read dial when facing forward but hanging perpendicular to you.
While the dial design is appealing and easy to read, whoever came up with the "hanging" hook function obviously didn't anticipate that the dial of an oven thermometer will hang perpendicular to you, making it almost impossible to read unless at very awkward angles. . The only solution is to place the slice face down on the rack in the oven. But then it may fall off when you take out a plate or pan on the same level of the oven.
