It just didn't work for me

I looked at the reviews before buying and thought everything was fine. Boy was I wrong! I've done everything suggested in the manual to get this working properly, including allowing it to reach room temperature for half an hour. I have other thermometers (very accurate) so I compared the readings to them. This device consistently deviated by 3 degrees in fever temperature and 7 degrees in ambient temperature. Totally unreliable. I understand that the temperature readings on this type of device can vary by about 1 degree, but not 3!
