Review on Toyota Tundra Power Tailgate Lock: POP & LOCK PL8450 by Michael Welborn

So I read all the other reviews that said it doesn't have enough power to actually move the locking mechanism, but I bought it anyway to see if I could get it working could. I've found that removing the small retaining springs on the slide mechanism works great! If you leave the springs on, I've found that they don't have enough force to actually lock the tailgate. I don't know why the manufacturer put these springs in as they don't really do much other than not be that loud. I gave 4 stars because after removing the springs it works as advertised and I LOVE that my tailgate latches with the push of a button. If you don't remove the springs I can see this will be a zero star rating because it just doesn't work. I've included photos of the springs I took along with the wires I'm connected to. The wiring instructions weren't that good either. It was installed on the Tundra crew cab in 2006.
