I bought this because I need a smart doorbell but I am renting it so I can't just mount it on the wall of my building . So, that's the thing to help. This thing is really hard to put together, but I think it's a necessity - the goal is for it to be more or less versatile, so put the foam in and line everything up correctly. will require patience. If you just can't, you'll either need to buy your own home or talk to your landlord. One star off because that simple fact annoys me, even though it's inevitable. The other part - and here's your "underwater throat" - is that you need to be mindful of where the speaker is on your smart doorbell. The doorbell model I bought (Blink device) has the speaker on the bottom of the device. If you cover the speaker with foam rubber, you'll mute the speaker and you're ready to give it a star - so have your scissors ready and be prepared to adjust them properly so as not to block the speaker. If the speaker is properly exposed, everything should be fully audible.
