I wanted to add a 1TB external SSD to my Mac Mini and also wanted a USB hub to give me more ports. This device can do both and looks very sexy. I had no trouble installing a SATA SSD in the case. The drive enters through a small panel that you remove from the bottom. It is invisible during use. The connection from the Mac to the device is via a USB-C cable, which means it can support USB 3.x speeds and offers multiple USB 3.x ports (blue) of different sizes, as well as USB 2.x ports and a couple of memory card slots that I'll probably never use. The dimensions of the case/hub are *exactly* the length and width of the Mac Mini (2018 model, may be different), meaning it's exactly 8" x 8" and shares the same corner radius as the Mac Mini. I put mine on top of my Mac Mini (and used the mounting tape) and it fits perfectly. The color is slightly different, slightly lighter. If that bothers you, put the hub on the bottom and you'll never notice. It's a small difference that doesn't bother me at all. Overall, this is a big improvement for my Mac Mini.
