Review on JOYSTAR 14/16 Inch Balance Bike For Toddlers And Kids Ages 3-8 Years Old Boys And Girls - Sport Kids Balance Bike With Handbrake - No Pedal Training Bicycle by David Lusk

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good size for 4 year old

My daughter is nearly 5 years old and has already transitioned to a 14 inch pedal bike and rides that just fine without training wheels. We bought this bike just because the pedal bike was proving to be unsafe for her to ride on the sidewalk during long walks (she would get worried that she would fall into the road, which made her balance get worse and actually cause her to fall) plus the pedals allowed her to go much too fast and she would zoom off ahead of me too far.The box the bike came in was in perfect condition and the bike was packaged up like new, but the bike itself was a little banged-up looking with scrapes and dents all over, as if it had already been ridden before. The handlebars did not want to slide into place and got all scraped up from trying, then they wouldn't even turn! I figured out which piece to loosen to allow the handlebars to turn, but now they make a grinding/scraping sound when turned and gritty stuff that resembles river sand falls out of the connection points.Other than those faults though, the bike fits my daughter perfectly on the lowest seat setting and rolls smoothly. It is light enough for her to pick up on her own and fits nicely in the trunk of my car. We tried it out on a 2 mile walk and she loved it and didn't complain one bit about the distance we were going like she normally does. The bike does go pretty fast on smooth pavement, so make sure your kid knows how to stop reliably before letting them go on a downward slope.
