I was specifically looking for a gray hat, but unfortunately the gray hats in the set of 12 ribbed hats look rather jet black (more black than grey). Still useful but not what I was looking for. They fit snugly around the head and provide extra room to hang around if you play around with them a bit, although they don't look as pretty as real slouch hats. Hats are lighter than average, so probably not ideal for freezing temperatures. Anyway, 12 hats for $25 is a good deal; I keep some for myself and give others away. Edit: They all had a musty smell that took a few washes to remove. So it's not optimal. I would also like to reiterate that they are not very warm; If you are buying them for others I would consider a heavier, tighter knit hat.
