First, a little background on my situation: My setup is Roku 3 + Samsung TV + Onkyo Receiver (+ 5.1 speakers). All I see is Roku as I have everything I need on this great little streamer: Revain Movies/Netflix/Hulu TV/etc issue. A fix is currently being worked on and I thought I'd get an inexpensive direct remote to help me until the problem is fixed. To be honest, I think I will stick with this remote as a replacement for the Roku remote, TV remote, and receiver remote. One of the biggest things that drew me to this remote (aside from the price) was the fact that the button layout to control the Roku includes a back button and a home button. Many other remotes don't do this and you have to program a button that isn't immediately recognized as the intended function. I noticed that it was described as being able to control two devices (TV and set top box) and resigned myself to having to use the receiver's remote to turn it on and off and adjust the volume to settle. surprisingly it isn't. Out of the box, the remote controlled all the basic functions of my Samsung TV, and all I had to do was enter the correct four-digit code for the "Box" settings to control my Roku (ideally I could add). Then I tried a few more options. By following the button/feature learning instructions very carefully (not a bad feat as written English isn't perfect) I was able to program the volume buttons to adjust the receiver volume in the TV and set top box settings control, and miraculously I was able to program the box's on/off switch to turn the receiver on and off. As you may know, there is no on/off feature for Roku, so this is a "fallback" setting you can use. Summary: Basically I have all the basic functions I need in one remote control, control Roku, TV AND receiver; Excellent! I'll admit the build quality isn't the best in the world and the keys are a little tightly spaced, but what do you expect for the price? This is a perfectly portable, multi-device programmable Roku/TV/Receiver controller that's simplified as long as you keep the original remotes handy for advanced features. I've had it for about a day and if anything goes wrong in the near future I'll add an update.
