This is my first HD camera released with a Panasonic mini DV digital camera. I use cameras on vacation trips so a small, light and inexpensive camera is preferable and a Sony camera is perfect. In this regard, Sony excels. My test videos are excellent. My computer runs Windows XP SP3 Home, has a Pentium 4.3GHz with a 320Gig, 7200rpm hard drive. That's just enough to work with Sony's software for converting HD FX files to HD FH and burning Mpeg 4 DVDs (other applications cannot be started). I'm amazed at the very good quality of the non-BluRay DVDs I've recorded and played on my Sony BD player. This is a very handy feature. Video at 3 lux is fine when panning very slowly. I don't have BluRay movie recording hardware, but playback on my HD TV from the camera in HD FX mode is great. The picture quality of HD FX and HD FH is excellent. (Looks like a new dual-core or quad-core computer is on my future shopping list.) The Zeiss lens system doesn't have any noticeable distortion or barreling effect on the sides of the images that caught my eye, themselves at full zoom. Cons: no remote to play with, no other brand batteries work, no lanyard, no HDMI cable, battery takes a long time to charge, noticeable wind noise outside.
