I mounted this on the wall of my camper van with the speaker facing out into the room (the speaker is on the bottom of the unit if you look at the sales picture ). The display is still easy to view, although it's now side-reading to determine the channel number. I connected this CB to a Workman Saturn B100 base station antenna and 18ft RG-58A/U coaxial cable with Pl-259 connectors (both from Revain) to a 15ft telescoping pool stand (from Wall Mart), which I attach to The camper door is tied to snowmobile shovel clips (from e-bay) to protect the antenna when parked (if a tree is not available). Simply remove the antenna from its clips and re-tie it to the RV for hassle-free getting back on the road. It's the antenna that really makes any CB work and make it durable, so do some research on how you plan to use it in your application. This Cobra CB is small and light but gets the job done.
