Let me start by saying that this thing can carry a small child if installed properly. The first attempt ended in complete failure. Didn't tighten and the spring didn't work. This bar is designed to be stretched about an inch longer than you need and from there you press it into place. Our mechanism didn't tighten properly and we didn't get any spring tension trying to install. Upon disassembly I found that the nut that tightened the plastic mechanism and expanded it in the tube had snapped off and I had to manually turn it a few turns to get it spinning freely again. Once that was done, this thing dressed up like no other and I was able to push it into place. If the bar was made of thicker metal I'm sure it could carry a grown man. It's right there. Overall I'm not happy I had to spend 10 minutes working with this but I'm glad it's holding up as firmly as it does now. Much better than the cool ones.
