The puppies jumped in as soon as I shook him up. The center padding is a little thin, but the fluff helped a bit (it was only vacuum packed). It's very soft, the sides are thick. To give an idea of the size, they are in one large bed. Both dogs weigh 55 pounds. Don't go by size charts IF your dogs love to be hugged like mine. They like to hide their noses, so this bed is perfect! For her weight I should have taken XL!? I only bought one to try but of course I have to buy a second one. ;)
